DeAndra C. Johnson, a senior executive nearing retirement, has over 24 years of experience in civil rights laws, housing policy, outreach, compliance, and enforcement. During her federal career, she oversaw an $85 million portfolio of competitive grants and contracts.

DeAndra focuses on creating housing opportunities in underserved communities through urban planning and philanthropic efforts to address economic disparities. Throughout her federal career, she has demonstrated remarkable agility by concentrating on sustainable, affordable, and accessible housing solutions to both common and complex challenges. She possesses extensive experience in coordinating federal fair housing policy and conducting outreach initiatives to engage housing choice allies, partners, and the public. She led national efforts to improve the customer experience, while coordinating strategic planning for private and government entities.

Most notably, DeAndra directed countless multi-million-dollar national media campaigns, legislative initiatives, policy development, and public engagement. DeAndra actively promotes equity within historically marginalized communities. She presently holds the position of President of the Board of Directors for the Sickle Cell Coalition of Maryland (SCCM). This non-profit organization enhances public awareness of sickle cell disease, advocates for consistent patient care, and provides outcome-oriented support for caregivers. This project has heightened DeAndra’s interest in fostering sustainable and thriving communities holistically targeting health, housing, education (i.e. financial literacy), agriculture, and transportation.

DeAndra is a graduate of Indiana University Law School and North Carolina A&T State University. She is the recipient of several national honors including the Trumpet Awards Foundation High Heels in High Places Award for excellence in civil rights and the Distinguished Secretary’s Award for Exceptional Mission-Critical Achievement. Moreover, she was awarded certificates from Harvard University’s Senior Executive Fellows Program at John F. Kennedy School of Government, and the Women’s Executive Leadership Program from The Impact Center in Washington, DC.
