Learn More About Sickle Cell Disease
Sickle cell disease (SCD) affects more than 12,000 individuals across the DMV area, disproportionately impacting communities with ancestral ties to malaria-endemic regions such as Africa, India, and Oman. The Sickle Cell Coalition of Maryland (SCCM) exists to educate, connect patients with pharmaceutical resources, and build trust to address health disparities and improve access to care. Through awareness campaigns, patient and caregiver support, and strategic partnerships, we work to bridge critical gaps and empower historically marginalized communities.
